SYRACUSE — Kosciusko County officials are currently investigating a drowning on Lake Wawasee near Syracuse. A 13-year-old autistic boy was found deceased after being reported missing by his family.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputies and emergency personnel responded at 11:53 p.m. Friday evening, Sept. 22, to a reported missing autistic child at 10768 N. Southshore Drive, Syracuse. After searching for the child for approximately 30 minutes, he was located in Lake Wawasee unresponsive. Emergency personnel performed CPR in attempts to resuscitate the child. The Kosciusko County coroner’s office pronounced Christopher Dixon, 13, Elkhart, dead at the scene.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Indiana State Police, Syracuse Police Department, Syracuse Fire Department, Syracuse EMS and the Kosciusko County coroner’s office.
