SYRACUSE – Boaters in Kosciusko County caused political waves – of sorts – Sunday as residents on three area different lakes organized rallies in support of President Donald Trump’s re-election.
Nearly 200 boats were counted as part of the event on Lake Wawasee and Lake Tippecanoe had about 125 boats.
There was also strong support on Sechrist Lake, which is part of the Barbee chain.
“We had at least 50 boats and a huge number of people on the shore waiting for the parade with flags and signs and cheers. The parade started on Sechrist and moved to Sawmill, Irish and Little Barbee,” Jill Stack wrote in a note to InkFreeNews.
“We did have one anti-Trump dock and a few thumbs down from 2 boats. Other than that, every single boat we passed gave thumbs up and cheered. One man on the Sawmill shore removed his hat and placed it over his heart when we passed by. The parade was a positive, fun, and energetic event that brought together strangers and formed a community on the lakes,” Stack said.
